Welcome to the Help center. Below are answers to the questions readers ask us most often, along with tips for getting better results from the search box. Search is deliberately simple, so most "how do I…" questions have short answers. If you don't find what you need here, the contact page is the fastest way to reach a human.
How does the search work?
Search is powered by Google's Programmable Search Engine. When you enter a query, it's sent to Google, which returns the same kinds of results you'd see on google.com but filtered to the topics and sources we've configured. Above the results we show a short AI-generated overview to give you a quick orientation before you start clicking links. The AI overview is meant as a starting point and should be verified against the authoritative sources linked below it.
Why do I see ads?
Search is free for readers and is supported entirely by advertising. You'll see two kinds of ads. The first is contextual ads inside the search results themselves, served by Google. The second is display ads served by Google AdSense in clearly labeled slots above, beside, and below the results. Ads help us pay for the servers, the AI overview, and the editorial work. We never insert paid mentions inside our editorial paragraphs.
Tips for better results
- Be specific. "Auto insurance liability limits Texas" beats "car insurance" by a mile.
- Use quotes for exact phrases, e.g.
"named peril"to surface the definition rather than marketing pages. - Add your state or country when local rules matter — every state has its own minimums, mandatory coverages, and consumer-protection rules.
- Search for the precise term you don't understand from your policy document. Single words like occurrence, indemnity, or subrogation have specific meanings in insurance contracts.
- Cross-check anything important. The AI overview and any single article can be incomplete; confirming with a second source takes only a minute.
Can you recommend a carrier?
We don't make carrier-specific recommendations. Pricing, claims-handling reputation, and underwriting appetite vary too much by state, time, and individual circumstance for a generic recommendation to be useful. For a personalized recommendation, consult an independent agent who can quote multiple carriers, or check your state department of insurance for complaint indexes.
How do I report a problem?
Use the contact page in the footer for general issues, the DMCA page for copyright concerns, and the privacy policy for data-related requests. Including the URL of the page where you encountered the issue, plus a screenshot if possible, helps us diagnose problems quickly. We read every message and reply within a few business days.
